Progressive Gestalt of the Americas

A Progressive Harmony alliance started in 1987 when Nicaragua and Haiti banded together. The next year Ecuador joined and Chile installed a ProgHarm government, entering itself in 1990.

Emmigration by US citizens to the PGA increased sharply in 1992 and two years later the PGA took steps to make the process of joining even easier. When the PGA bailed out the economy of Mexico in 1995 they negotiated the stationing of troops along the US border to help halt illegal immigration from the US to the PGA. It was already a member of the GPhA as of 1994 and the attitude of PGA officials towards American immigrants and the US generally put it at odds with the other GPhA member states. Internal debates over what to do with South American oil reserves also contributed to problems within the PGA in 1997.
