The IEG was formed in 1976 and quickly grew in global influence throughout the 70s and 80s, taking Halmahera in a war with Indonesia in 1978 and building the world's first space elevator in 1980.

In 1994, the IEG joined with other Progressive Harmony nations to form the Global Philosophical Alliance (GPhA).
